Frequently asked
Everything we get asked, before we get asked
If anything's missing, give us a call or drop a line — we'd rather answer one email twice than have you guess.
-
Why book direct rather than through Airbnb or Booking.com?
Booking direct saves you 8–12% on the same dates and the same house — we don’t pay a platform commission, so we share the saving. You’re also dealing with us straight rather than through a middle layer, which makes everything quicker if anything needs sorting.
-
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am, so we have time to turn the house around between guests. If you need to drop bags earlier or hold them after check-out, just ask — we’ll usually find a way.
-
How many people does Bartley House sleep?
The house sleeps eight across four bedrooms — a kingsize, two doubles and a twin — each with its own bathroom. A travel cot and a high chair are provided free of charge; just mention them when you book.
-
Is there parking?
Yes — Bartley House has private off-street parking. Whitby’s town-centre parking is paid and gets busy in summer, so the spot at the house is genuinely useful.
-
Are pets allowed?
Yes — dogs and other pets are welcome at Bartley House, at no extra charge. Just let us know you’re bringing one when you book so we can have things ready. West Cliff Beach below the house is dog-friendly from October to April, and plenty of Whitby’s pubs and cafés welcome dogs year-round.
-
How fast is the Wi-Fi?
Fast enough for video calls, streaming and a remote-working day if you need one. Full-fibre runs into the house and there’s strong coverage on every floor.
